Lucy and Mike’s Wedding – 30th December 2017
The Ceremony
Lucy and Mike chose the beautiful gardens of Al-Ru farm as the perfect setting to say ‘I do’. Guests waited next to the pond on a small grass area surrounded by flowers and trees. The tree provided shade from the afternoon sun. Here guests were eagerly awaiting Lucy’s arrival.
Lucy had asked me to learn her favourite song ‘Everlong’ by Foo Fighters. I played it for her made of honour and herself to walk into. Lucy and I had timed her entrance so that she walked down the aisle on the words ‘if anything could ever feel this real forever’. What a perfect arrangement! Guests were wiping away their tears as marriage celebrant Cecilia White facilitated Lucy’s and Mike’s exchange of vows.
While the happy couple was signing the registry I was playing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking out Loud’ as requested by the couple. After Cecilia announced Mr and Mrs James they walked out hand in hand to “Marry You”.
The Pre-dinner
While the couple was off taking pictures, guests gathered on the lawn where canapes and drinks were served. Meanwhile I was playing acoustic life wedding music, guests were competing for king and queen of lawn games.
The Reception
For the reception I had set up in the barn with acoustic wedding music and DJ equipment. A few tables, couches and chairs were scattered around the area for guests to relax. The set up was simple, elegant yet rustic and completed the barn wonderfully.
Finally, the couple was announced to ‘shut up dance’. Next, speeches followed the cake cutting and Mike’s cousin did an amazing job at MC-ing the evening. Guests were enjoying drinks and a cocktail style dinner inside and outside the barn. Meanwhile the sun was setting over the ocean.
For their first dance as husband and wife Lucy had asked me to play Ellie Gouldings ‘How long will I love you’. After this beautiful dance I switched to DJ ing for the rest of the night. The dance floor was pumping with classics like ‘living on a prayer’ and current top hits like ‘uptown funk.’
It was such a wonderful day to be part off. The weather was perfect, the guests lovely and the couple stunning.
I feel privileged to have been chosen as their wedding musician and DJ.
Although carrying the heavy equipment and the time it takes to set it up and take it down is not my favourite part I absolutely love my work and would trade it for nothing else in this world. Thanks Lucy and Mike for letting me get to know you and letting me share your special day.
